About the Artist

My name is Brittany Hilliard, and I am the creator of Daydreaming Abstract. I grew up in Snyder, Nebraska.

After graduating high school I spent a while looking for stability somewhere new; really trying to find the person I wanted to be. A few years passed when I eventually found my place in Omaha—where I've been building my life and my creative world ever since.

I like to create vibrant abstract work on canvas, using acrylic paints and a mix of brushes to build movement and rhythm. My pieces often layer multiple colors, encouraging and letting them interact in unexpected ways. Zen-tangle inspired patterns and loose spontaneous markings tend to show up too, intertwining and weaving themselves into whatever composition wherever they may lead.

My Inspiration

I find this overwhelming urge to express myself through painting. It started during childhood and has been my outlet for creating ever since. I tend to paint with my emotions and use movements to portray the feeling. There are moments where the only inspiration I have is spreading different colors on the canvas. Those tend to be great backgrounds for future expressions. When I am painting, I am truly connected to my inner child, and am able to show up as my most authentic self.

My Artistic Journey

I found my love for art as a child, doodling with all sorts of mediums—crayons, colored pencils, markers, watercolors, and the occasional paint. Until middle school, I never realized how much painting would actually become apart of my identity. Holding a brush and making bold marks on a canvas gave me this certainty that I could create something that would genuinely make me happy. I do dabble in drawing, but painting is where I feel strongest and most exposed in the best way. And, when life gets heavy and I need time to sort through everything inside me, I tend to step back... Yet painting is always the thing that pulls me home again.

My Mission

Through my art, I want people to feel seen and uplifted—to know they are not carrying their heaviness alone. And if something I create gives someone even a moment of peace or inspiration, it reminds me why creating matters so much to me.

My Personal Touch

I keep jazz, mellow instrumentals, or groovy music playing while I create — and sometimes I end up in a quiet little dance without meaning to. Meanwhile, my cat just wanders around being effortlessly cute, keeping me company through the entire process.

Where Am I Headed?

I am always creating — following whatever spark shows up and seeing where it leads. Getting more comfortable putting myself out there and meeting other artists is part of the process; slow, a little awkward at times, but I’m doing it. Some days feel bold,
others not so much, but the forward motion is there. I am excited to keep growing, connecting, and saying yes to things that feel right. Commissions are open if you would like something made, and if a collaboration idea is floating around in your head, I’m always down to explore it!
